MFNW - I wanna have fun every weekend My Page With Mr. Boysonn Music Fest Northwest. Holy Cow!!! What an adventure. Three nights of fun, fun, fun. Walking around with the guys. Club Hoppin'. Dancin'!! Whew, what a time. I tell ya, I never had so much fun. Okay, so first, I went and saw this band that was dressed all like Klingons and they were all like "DJUH! DJUH! DJUH" (That's the sound of the guitar) and the singer was this really big guy and he was going, "Roaaaar!!! RRRHHUUGGHHHAAAR!!!!" I guess it was supposed to be in Klingon but how can I tell, right? And then we went to go see Blackalicious and they were all like jumpin' up and down and making everybody say things and we were all waving our hands in the air. And there were people everywhere. On the street and in the clubs. Laughing and having a good time and dancing. Then the next night I went and saw Blue Skies for Black Hearts and they were awesome. Foghorn Stringband were really cool, too. They all sat around one microphone like they did in the old days and played music that made you want to stomp your foot. Then, after a long walk over to Jimmy Mak's we went and saw the Vagabond Opera and boy does that guy have a set of lungs! He sang like there was an endless supply in there. And they were fun, too. Like an old vaudeville show or something. Then we went and saw the weirdest thing I have ever seen in my life. There was this guy onstage with a bunch of mean looking robots and they all played music. Like Chuck E Cheese but really evil. Not a place to take your kids, I would say. It was weird but really, really cool. But I was tired and so was everybody else. But everybody looked happy. Then on Saturday, I went and saw The Very Foundation and they rocked and rolled. Then off to see the band Menomena!. Boy where they super cool. I haven't smiled so much since I was given the Narnia books for my birthday. And that was six years ago!! I have to say one of the things that I liked so much about it was seeing everybody walking around from club to club, having such a good time. I don't want to get up on a soapbox here but it seems to me like this sort of thing could happen more often. It gives a people a chance to see all the bands they want to see but then they don't have to pay full price at each club. And everybody is happy!! The clubs, the bands and the fans (like me!). I'm surprised this sort of thing doesn't happen every weekend like it does in other cities. With all the great music going on in this in the city and all the businesses in town to support this kind of thing, it would really help pick up the economy, especially for the artists and those people that are going broke trying to support a scene that they are actively trying to promote and is being, for the most part, ignored by our city and state representatives. I mean baseball parks and ice skating rinks are fine and all but there is so much untapped economy built in to this city already, I just don't understand why the mayor and people like that get on the boat and perk up the art culture that is sitting right underneath their noses. Oh, listen to me, like I know what I'm talking about. Spend one weekend having fun and spending money and all of a sudden I am King Smart of Know-It-All Land. All in all the Music Fest Northwest was super cool and I just can't wait until next year. See ya next month.
