First off, on behalf of everyone at MLP, thank you for picking up the magazine
Secondly, I want to thank all of the artists, friends and local music fans who helped out with this issue. Whether you sent us your cd, granted us an interview, submitted an article, told your friends about us or simply wished us luck; we freaking love you.
Our first issue, 300 in number, went out to 30 locations, and was gone in 3 days. Good things come in multiples of 3. This month we were able to print twice as many issues, and distribute to
several more shops. Through the understanding and shared vision of the businesses in these pages, we've met our goal for the month. All of our advertisers see the value in the arts and community that thrives in Portland. Our thanks to them for supporting this vehicle of expression.
I'm thrilled to see our coverage expanding to such a variety of local styles. This month we have everyone from jazz talent Tim Jensen to the backwoods roundup of Johnnie Ward. Who knows...maybe next month we'll have Art Alexakis.
Just kidding, Art. Sorry I haven't called back yet.
Finally, a commitment to our readers. No matter how much we grow, as long as this publication exists, you'll never pay a cent for it. And to the Portland musician, if you have an album, perform regularly, and send us your record, it will be reviewed. Bang.
Isn't that something.
- Guy
[you know we're kidding about the Art thing, right?]
