Evil Kramer's Theory Corner

Greetings- I believe when last we spoke we were discussing cake. Delicious, delicious cake. Oh yes, and dominant 5th's. An interesting thing to do with a dominant 5th, (other than enjoy it whilst nosing a fine German chocolate baking in the oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes) is to allow the diminished scale (root, flat 3, flat 5, 6)to be utilized atop the dom 5 described above. Not unlike a raspberry icing that would sit atop the earlier mentioned cake. Placing the root of the diminished arpeggio either one half-step below the root of the aforementioned dom 5, or perhaps one full step above, and playing said arpeggio with the proper feeling will bring even the most hardened pie lover over to the exquisite Realm of the Cake. You will also find the resolution to the original tonic chord as pleasing as a cold glass of milk after a bite of such a lovely, moist... well, you get the idea.
